HOT OF TEXAS ANDALUSIANS

Pura Raza Espanola — Purebred Spanish Horses

Our ranch is dedicated to breeding and raising the beautiful Andalusian. We are committed to adhering to the principles established for the classic Pura Raza Espanola. Our goal is to continue to bring the richness of the past into a beautiful and tangible reality for the present.  So that those who select from our horses can be confident of taking with them the best of the cherished qualities found in this breed.

The Pura Raza Espanola

According to the International Andalusian Lusitano Horse Association (IAHLA), "the Pura Raza Espanola, or as it is often called, the PRE horse, is the name of the modern breed created from the Andalusian Horse in Spain in 1912."

Currently the breed is administered worldwide by the Cria Caballar of Spain.

To be registered as a PRE horse, both parents must be registered in the Adult/Breeders book of the Cria. The offspring must then be Inscribed by being inspected at its mother's side, microchipped and DNA typed. At the age of at least 3, the Spanish Horse must pass a strict inspection to achieve breeding book status. This process is called Revision. Currently, the PRE can be only Bay, Grey, Black or Chestnut.

Each country has its own administering body. The IALHA is a member of an association of breed associations which administer the Revision process for the USA called the FAB-PRE-USA. Their website has complete details about the rules and the process, plus the forms and instructions at: http://www.fab-pre-usa.com."
